Privacy Policy

GIST Research Institute for solar cell and Sustainable energies(RISE) regards the security of user's personal information to be an important matter. GIST RISE collects, retains and handles all personal information based on relevant laws and/or consent of concerned persons.
In the case that the RISE revises its privacy policy, any revisions will be posted on our webpage.

Protection of Personal Information of RISE Web Site Users

The RISE's policy on the protection of personal information on its websites is based on the existing 「Act on the Protection of Personal Information Maintained by Public Institutions」 and the 「Guidelines for Public Organizations' Protection of Personal Information」.
Unless otherwise noted, the following policy applies to the following web page operated by RISE: http://rise.gist.ac.kr

1. Personal Information Automatically Collected and Stored

  • ① The following information is automatically collected and saved when users visit the webpage.
    - User's internet server domain and the addresses that the user went through to visit our homepage.
    - User's browser type and OS.
    - Time of visit, etc.
  • ② Information Automatically Collected and Stored is used exclusively to provide better services to the user, such as facilitating communication between the user and the web site, and statistical analysis to improve the web page. However, this information may be submitted to relevant institutions in cases mandated by law.

2. Personal Information Collected through E-mails and Web Forms

  • ① Users can express their opinions by mail, by telephone and by online electronic form. Your entry can be shared by other people based on the related regulations, and can be used as material for policy development and the execution of the related regulations.
  • ② RISE makes administrative and technical efforts for the security of web page. However please refrain from sensitive information that may be found problematic in case of web site infiltration.

3. Security Measures in operation of RISE Web Site

For the security or continuation of the service, RISE operates various programs to monitor network traffic and detect attempts of illegal information change.

4. Linked Sites and Web Pages

When you move to other web sites or web pages by clicking links or banners on the RISE web-sites, privacy policy posted by the operators of the newly opened webpage applies. Please check the private information protection policy of the newly opened sites.

5. Acquisition of Other Users' Personal Information while using RISE Web Site

It is illegal to obtain other users' personal information, such e-mail addresses, while using the RISE webpage. Those who illegally collect or receive personal information of RISE webpage users are punishable by Article 23 of Enforcement Decree of the [Act on the Protection of Personal Information Maintained by Public Institutions].

6. Report on Personal Information Infringement Cases

When you discover anything that may cause the infringement of user rights and such as the leak of personal information while using the RISE web site, please notify the case to the following contacts.

Terms of Use

Article 1. Purpose

This agreement shall provide conditions and procedures to use all services that the web site of GIST Research Institute for solar cell and Sustainable energies(RISE) provides rights, responsibilities, duties, etc.

Article 2. Effects of the Agreement

This Agreement shall become effective when the user subscribes to the Service and accepts the provisions of this Agreement, which will be displayed on the web site or put on pubic notice.

Article 3. Revision of the Agreement

This Agreement may be modified without notice. Such modification shall be informed on the web site upon which the effect will take place immediately.

Article 4. Approving Usage Contract.

This Agreement shall become effective to the user when the user agrees to the Agreement after joining as member.

Article 5. Membership Application

Users apply for membership by submitting user's true and correct information under the site's registration procedures.

Article 6. Membership Approval

User registration is completed upon of an approval from RISE for your application.

Article 7. Disqualification of Membership

RISE may restrict, suspend, or terminate membership of user of the following cases without any prior notice.
1. If a user submit false information of the membership application.
2. If a user accesses the Site using personal information, ID or password of another person.
3. If a user interferes with RISE site and services.
4. If a user posts any inappropriate messages or audio-visual images containing obscene or violent contents.
5. If a user undertakes any criminal actions.

Article 8. Obligations of Users

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of ID and passwords. All consequences of using ID and password belong to members themselves. Also, Users shall not copy, translate or offer service of RISE to others without a prior approval of the RISE.

Article 9. Obligations of RISE

RISE shall not distribute or reveal any user personal information without proper consent. However, personal information may be provided to a third party within the limits of the law.

Article 10. Service Usage

Service is always provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However, service may be suspended on the web site for regular maintenance or other facility-related matters.

Article 12. Withdrawal of Membership

Users may request RISE to be withdrawn from membership at any time through MY PAGE menu in the web site, in which case RISE will process the request immediately.

Article 13. Competent Court

If a lawsuit arises out of service use, a court defined by the law will act as a competent court.

Supplementary Provisions

(Effective Date) The agreement takes effect from December 1, 2009.
